Blogpost # M. 272 WHILE NERO FIDDLED

The apocryphal account of the insane Roman Emperor, Nero playing his fiddle while Rome burned, may be situationally analogized to a contemporaneous phenomenon, relative to the ongoing existence of our Planet’s existential danger, which contemporaneously, appears to be a matter of remote concern, consequential to the existence of its extant roiling and preoccupying political contention.

Stated in terms of intrinsic priority, the serious concern recently posed by the politically disturbing threat to our precious and, apparently, vulnerable, Democratic Republic, and by extension, general world democracy, has apparently captured Man’s complete attention and concern. It has materially deflected the existing and more fundamentally existential peril to the Planet and its inhabitants; the latter, contextually and situationally, unrelated to the ongoing, and temporally appropriate dispute over political doctrine. Stated otherwise, and more specifically, the extant issue of just governance, however appropriate and relevant, has, in its dynamic effect, obscured or overshadowed the more fundamental existential danger to the planetary existence of humanity; one notably impacting earthlings of every conceivable political stripe. posed by the ever-increasing level of hazardous global warming.

The undeniably, demonstrated effects of climate change brought about by global warming, brought about and exacerbated by Man’s eternal burning of fossil fuel, and industrial, and agricultural activities, has already evinced an undeniable impact on ther entire Planet, It has brought about observably unseasonable weather [the current month of June is evincing the typical meteorology of a mid-August], great floods, enormous storms, forest fires, serious drought, sea level rise, deforestation, enlargement of desert area. coral extinction, melting Arctic glaciers, unpredictable storms and cyclones, plus a host of other abnormalities, ominously progressing and metastasizing while Man, like Emperor Nero, is focused elsewhere.

It may be empirically (conceivable that the (proper and rational) concentration on Donald Trump’s egregious threat to American democracy, will, by such ardent preocupation, result in greater existential danger by its singular preoccupation with the pivotal issue of appropriate National governance and the endurance of right principle; the same, resulting in a hazardous diversion, analogous to Nero’s insane preoccupation with fiddle playing, from the more fundamental concern for the salubrious function of the Planet and the consequent endurance of the (bi-partisan) Homo Sapiens.
