Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook and its platform Meta made the alarming public statement that “fact-checking” will be discontinued, which statement motivated this writing. We will explain below.
If it were possible to exceed the nature and extent of multifaceted and malignant damage to the American nation by its amoral, incapable, and monomaniacal, orange-haired Augustus Caesar, it would, undoubtedly, be the egregious metaphysical and atavistically negative impact on society’s existential value of “truth.” Said factual assertion might appear to vest Donald Trump with some omnipotent prowess; however, despite the immense gravity of the predicted consequence, one can empirically presume that the malefactor lacks the rational facility to comprehend such ultimate, deleterious potential of his shallow. ego-driven bizarre declarations and behavior.
We refer to Trump’s war on “truth “and his tactically convenient support of falsehood, “fake news,” as he shamelessly asserts, or, “alternate facts.” Trump’s self-serving mendacity is an egregious attribute of his delusional egocentricity accompanied by his systemic lack of moral compass.
It is pragmatically indisputable that Early Man’s gradual advancement to giving in society was the existential predicate to his survival as a species. Historically, man’s societal existence has been made possible, shaped, and influenced by interactive communication between its members, creating a dynamic and usefully advancing social system. The societal assumption relative to Man’s truthful communication is a pragmatic necessity to its enduring existence, mutual protection, survival, and perforce in every aspect of Man’s interrelated way of life.
Like a wild bull in a china shop, Trump’s uncountable travesties, execrable as they may be, may not essentially equal his witless damage to the essential dynamics of societal existence and advancement. Trump’s selfish and egocentric attack upon “truth,” carries with it an ignorantly unaware, but metaphysically momentous, assault on civilization. It is truly bizarre to be able to take note of the fact that a non-descript, ignorant monomaniac has evinced the capacity, not only for a shameless attack on America’s historical promise of freedom and equality, on its two-party system (factually, the GOP has ceased to be a democratic party), its implicit legal standards of moral behavior and societal civility, laws, traditional folkways and way of life but, in unwittingly, the fundamental building block of human society itself.
The recently imposed requirement of “fact-checking” has, by necessity, become a pragmatic and essential necessity, revealing the obscene level to which Donald Trump and his MAGA populist horde have inflicted a grievous and sustained injury to what previously existed as the assumption of truth and integrity of the written or spoken word. The formerly mundane and routine practice of journalistic review to edit inadvertent factual mistakes has metamorphically evolved, thanks to Trump and his MAGA populists, to a shameful, but mandatory, necessity. The trusted written or spoken word has, atavistically descended to its questionable veracity. It is this disastrous development to which we alarmingly refer in the first sentence of this writing. What can be the utilitarian value of any media made, or personal communication, lacking the essential assumption of truth and accuracy?
Recent events have alarmingly shown that ancient formidable conquerors like Genghis Kahn are not required to destroy civilization; it would contemporaneously, appear that populist ignorance will suffice.
