In the obscure and ethereal dimension of our inner consciousness,, it is not unusual to ruminate on metaphysical reality in the inner search for answers to ubiquitous phenomena. There are presenting questions that are acceptably answered, and other subject matter obscurely unattainable, Among the commonly identified dilemmas, is for example, the so-called conundrum as to “which came first, the chicken or the egg?’ This question, proffered as a dilemma, is nevertheless, logically answerable; we solved the so-called mystery as young high school students. The egg came first, laid by the creature immediately preceding the chicken’s appearance in the course of the developing dynamics of Natural Evolution; viz., the hatched egg was the first chicken.

The “Riddle of the Sphinx” appearing in the classic Greek literature, was solved, metaphorically, centuries ago. The challenging question “What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs in the afternoon, and three legs at night?’ was revealed to represent “Man,” who crawls on all fours in his infancy, walks with two legs as a man and requires a cane (the third leg) at old age.

By contrast, there are questions considered for which acceptable answers, disturbingly, elude us, despite continuous efforts, There, conceivably, are a full plethora of such disturbing subjects, agonizingly unanswerable for others; but for us, the singular and prevailing issue is the dynamics and practical definition of the directional designation, “Up.” We will elucidate our eternal difficulty.

We, affirmatively understand the systemics of the directional word (“up”) as designating the vertical direction or comparative venue as contrasted with another chosen position; we have little problem with the spatial conception intrinsic to the comparative or directional word per se; what we do find agonizingly elusive is the specific application of the directional observation as applied in the context of empirical gravity. May we explain.

It is universally understood that our planet is configured in the shape of a huge ball; i.e,, round. Looking at a modeled configuration of the Earth, one can obviously and irrefutably observe that, for example, the Northern Hemisphere is observed to be above the Southern. It is incontrovertible that when Man stands on the ground in his own hemisphere, say, the Northern portion of the round global apparition, his feet necessarily are planted downward, i,e,. on the ground surface. It would empirically follow, by necessary geometric observation that the bottoms of his feet are located at a venue, necessarily pointing downward towards the conjoining Southern half of the planet. He is, without question, “Standing Up.” Let us now envision an individual standing, fully erect at his respective venue in the Southern portion of the planet, his feet also simultaneously on the surface of his ambient ground. He too, is “Standing Up.”

If we return, for convenient comparison, to the identical, mechanical configuration of our global planet, it follows, as night follows day, that both members of the species, Homo Sapiens, are, definitionally and geometrically, standing “Up” but miraculously. the soles of their respective feet are mutually facing each other, footprint to footprint. How, conceivably and empirically, can they both be standing ” up” yet simultaneously facing in opposite directions? Among the variety of our disturbing ruminations, this paradoxical conundrum remains, agonizingly, inexplicable.

Another disturbingly unanswerable, but objectively conscious, question is how is it possible that freedom-loving voters chose to elect a pathological tyrant to the American Presidency. We are at least. comfortably assured in our understanding, however, that such an undesirable event, pragmatically and philosophically can easily be understood and directionally identified, as moving, “Downward.”

If the now apprehensive American citizen were painstakingly able to discern some benefit in the extant Trump-orchestrated societal dystopia, notably, the apocryphal state of our traditional democratic polity, the same, conceivably, would reside in its singular potential as a metaphysical teaching moment.

The concerned citizenry has sadly witnessed the growth of a guileless populism encroach on a disproportionate number of his fellow citizens, simultaneously with a proportionate decline in desire for culturally enlightening advancement. Its former success has been despoiled by a crass desire for material symbols of wealth such as expensive homes, automobiles, boats, and wristwatches. “Cool” has popularly displaced “sophisticated”” hockey has displaced theater, museums, and opera, and, sadly, computer games and televised sports have rendered literature passe.

Mainstream American citizens have unhappily witnessed a populist-oriented world in which individuals who are proficient at shooting a ball through a hoop, located on a pole, or hitting a small round object out of a stadium, are compensated with bonuses and seven-digit annual salaries while earnest, post-doctoral scientists, dedicating their careers to ridding Mankind’s of dread disease are compensated modestly; where fine educators are mundanely unappreciated and “rock stars” are popularly adulated, and where hand-held video games have popularly replaced the many ubiquitous benefits of reading. In the extant milieu the desire for power and influence, rather than dedication to service, motivates our politicians, and dressing “smart” and appearing confident is more effective than innate ability, expensive cosmetics are deemed vitally important to deny a felt undesirable appearance of natural aging, and where mundane “talk” and digitized electronic messaging has easily replaced the social and psychological benefits of personal conversation. In such a populist-oriented and witless society, contrasted with one that would, salubriously, aspire to growth, wisdom, and mature perception, deceitful demagogic purveyors of ubiquitous “snake oil cures” thrive, and a consequential decline in democratic humanism consequently eventuate.

To eliminate the impediment of a tyrannical government and its undemocratic practice of government, as now confronts the Nation, we must take the necessary steps to increase the practice of the enrichment of meaningful citizen interaction, and, in the interest of societal advancement take up rewarding activities, like reading good literature, involvement in the arts, or an elective and personally enriching elective interest, We must also maintain appropriate criteria to reward actual merit, and above all, exercise our capacity for reason and development of enlightenment, by keeping ourselves well-informed and voting for our own perceived interest and the corresponding interests o our Democratic Republic.

A return to the former state of well-informed and enlightened citizenry is the effective panacea to the present onset of populist, autonomous tyranny and its shameful degradation of our traditionally admirable Republican Democracy. The same would be desirably productive of a true renaissance of freedom and liberty and constitute the reinstatement of our Nation as the avatar of humanism, and equal and appropriate opportunity for self-fulfillment.

The apocalyptic wildfires that have displaced from their homes, upwards of 100,000 Los Angeles County residents to date, in our view, would warrant the horrific designation as a residential holocaust, as well as a destroyer of untold acres of woodlands, businesses, automobiles, and an unaccountable number of personal property.

The veracity of the apocryphal story recounting the playing of a fiddle by Roman Emperor, Nero while Rome burned, may not merit sufficient verisimilitude. However, the lack of empathy demonstrated by our modern Nero the, President-Elect was evident and undeniable. We doubt he evinced the minimum of concern sufficient to visit the catastrophic scene. More on the thematic subject of America’s “Latter Day Nero” following some thoughtful comments regarding the nature of human loss.

The uncontrollable wildfire’s destruction of multiple thousands of homes evokes an unfathomable degree of empathy towards their prior residents, most especially consisting of the realization that residential real estate, viz., “homes” have a subjective, humanistic value to their residents, that is conceivably, far greater and unrelated to its objective equity ownership, as proprietary capital assets.

While it is truer that the ownership of real estate, factually constitutes objective asset ownership, residential real estate is commonly accompanied by a singular emotional perception as the existence of a traditional and intimately familiar family shrine, intangubly embued with eternal institutional existence. Despite the immensity of the tragedy, emotionally and financially, the orange egotistic President-Elect seemed visibly undisturbed and notably, disinterested. His singular neurotic, knee-jerk reaction was to seek out the parties responsible for the tragic event. It has been observed that his trademark reaction to human tragedy, is to construe conspiratorial ideations by which blame is tactically attributed to his political enemies viz., “”Governor Newsom is too interested in DEI to take care of the water hydrants,” plus an Alice in Wonderland cornucopia of paranoid attribution.
No thought was observably given by our modern Nero to global warming and its consequent exacerbation of the natural elements, demonstratively resulting in major flooding, tsunamis, abnormal temperatures, great winds, and other abnormal and dangerous consequences of the fouling of our planet’s atmosphere, scientifically attributable to carbon emission by continued and suicidal use of fossil fuels.

Characterlogicaly consistent with his responsibly sage medical advice proffer during the pandemic, viz., to drink bathroom cleanser as the reliable panacea, Donald Trump rewards the fossil fuel lobbyists for the millions of dollars of campaign contributions, by his persistent, publically spouted mantra, “Drill baby drill! ”

Every now and then, we change our personal “app” from those featuring the shambolic state of the Nation, or regular, mundane thoughts of family, and daily experience, to one featuring an introspective conversation with ourselves. Metaphysical subjects such as one’s extant place in the context of his temporally established expectations or perhaps, a retrospective inquiry as to whether our allotted and limited franchise of our life, has thus far been reduced in significance, analogous to a small and indistinct compartment of a bee’s expansive honeycomb or, to the contrary, demonstrative of a a singular and privileged scenario.

The temporally nuanced choices in such periodic examinations may conceivably vary with the nature of our extant emotion or degree of comfort at the time of the particular evaluation; notwithstanding the latter observation,, for individuals who have elected to live contemplative lives, many issues of eclectic nature are thereby understood and determined relative to an established and referable self-image. The empirical effect of the accumulated confirmation of thoughtful public perception of the appropriate nature of policies and actions is necessarily impactful to the dynamics of a National, democratically responsive polity.

Concerning such thematic, personal assessments of the inner, fundamentally established, view of ourselves and its consequence on a democratically representative polity, the following considerations would seem to merit the level of referable utilitarian and appropriate criteria, of meaningful utility to the Nation: (a) the origin and sincerity of held opinions as compared with facile, populist, possibly, demagogically inspired, “groupthink,” (b) The degree of assurance of perceived rectitude and appropriate ethical consideration exhibited by the subject point of view or resultant action, (c) The conceivable impact on the welfare or interests of others, (d) the precedential effect of the effectuation of any such thoughtfully derived and decisive conclusions and, (e) the flexible awareness of the existence and predictable results of available alternatives.

Too many individual points of view, in the political and social arena are derived from, or influenced by, self-interested outside parties, and resultant policies ultimately effectuated, consequential to citizens suffering from an insecure and disabling need for group acceptance, the lazy exercise of facile and reductive thought or the intentional disconnect from considerations of rectitude by a reductive emphasis on personalized self-interest, or, alternatively stated, the absence of empathy for the resultant plight of others is morally and experientially toxic and antithetical to a just, enduring and successful Democratic Republic and the derivative well-being of its citizenry.

For the democratic architecture and population of a Democratic Republic to beneficially endure, it must be understood to exist as an eternally vulnerable, nevertheless, morally admirable entity, and evidence the positive advancement of humankind. For its salubrious existence, it should be audited, periodically, and tirelessly nurtured by a dedicated and rationally directed population of freedom-loving citizens

Analogous to human health, sporadic “check-ups,” of the beneficial health of the democratic Nation, in our view, are dynamically and responsibly protective of a salubrious and appropriately citizen-guided direction, guided by an appropriate combination of empirical pragmatism, and rationally accepted moral principle.

Stated more succinctly, the continuing aspiration for the success and endurance of our Republican Democracy, is ultimately and existentially, dependent upon the quality and consequential nature and empirical impact of its population of rationally and morally guided citizens.

As we can discern, America’s venerable Founders had idealistic, if not, pollyannish, expectations in their creation of a proposed and radically new republic, beneficially intended to be free of King, established Church, privileged birth and one purposed to be, “by and for the people.” They optimistically foresaw a newly created nation of informed and dedicated citizens who would agreeably debate the controversial issues of the day, the results of which would be of reference to a polity, dedicated to devising policies ” by and for the people.” One illustration of their unfounded optimism and grandiose expectations is revealed by a future history that featured hostile division and bitter rivalry between dissident parties.

The prescient Founders prudently created three branches of government, Executive, Legislative, and Judicial, in which such tri-partite polity would serve to dynamically eschew the historically deplorable European history of absolute and autonomous rule. Under that endeavor, they tactically conceived of a system, called “checks and balances,” exercisable by either branch of said tri-partite government, to deter abuse of authority by any one of the others. The right to vote (by “citizens “as then defined) would be equal, added to which, fundamental constitutional citizen rights were provided as the Nation’s grand political recipe for governance. Among other requirements and, notably, relevant to the particular )impetus for this writing, was a constitutional requirement that nominees for the Presidential Cabinet, be subject to the approval of an inquisitional Senate (i.e., “Advice and Consent”).

The all-encompassing political recipe, as conceived, was inarguably pragmatic, and equitable; nevertheless, any recipe’s success is dependent upon its appropriate implementation and, thematically, the proper incorporation of its prescribed ingredients.

In its lifetime of slightly shy of two and one-half centuries, the American Nation has experienced results, notably short of the Founder’s idealistic conception. At present, the incoming office of the President is to be occupied by an empirically demonstrated, incapable, amoral, and egoistic demagogue who has declared his opposition to its Constitution and his firm intention to rule as a dictator. a legislative branch largely composed of his acolytes and politicians more concerned about political power and Presidential approval than their more appropriate obligation to their constituencies and to the Nation; the legal supervision of a Supreme Court, improperly accepting political issuers for judicial determination, a practice inarguably contradictory to the fundamental constitutional requirements of “Separation of Powers,” and, sadly, a High Court, notably not entirely immune to political influence and sub-Rosa bribery,.

The publically televised broadcast of the constitutionally mandated exercise of Senatorial responsibility ( i.e., “Advice and Consent”) to fully vet the incoming President’s impactful choices for Cabinet positions appears analogously demonstrative of a meaningless dog and pony show. Contrary to their fiduciary responsibility (to ensure the proper character, experience, and objective capability of the Presidentially selected candidates), it can be seen to be far from their constitutionally established (‘recipe”) and pragmatic purpose. The Senators from the opposing party (the Democrats) seem to be making inquiries regarding the relevant characterological and experiential attributes of the respective nominees for Presidential Cabinet, while, tactically, the newly elected President’s party (Republicans) merely asking “soft-ball” questions, devised to elicit Senate approval of the President’s self-interested selections, This significant procedure, designed to vitally assure the capability and appropriate nature of the proposed Cabinet Secretaries is visibly being conducted, not untypically, in the manner of a meaningless exercise; Such portentous “game-show,” is, regrettably in sync with the overall National failure to observably follow the salutary recipe construed by the Founders.

Recipes for political success, like analogous recipes for the preparation of fine cuisine, determinatively require the inclusion of qualitatively appropriate ingredients. The idealistic expectations of the Founders’ political recipe for their conceived Nation, have thus far, not been realized and in empirical reality, have been “botched up”; due, principally, to the notable absence of the required (“Jeffersonian”) quality of its ingredients requiring an adequately educated and improperly informed citizenry.

The recently imposed requirement of “fact-checking” has, by necessity, become a pragmatic and essential necessity, revealing the obscene level to which Donald Trump and his MAGA populist horde have inflicted a grievous and sustained injury to what previously existed as the assumption of truth and integrity of the written or spoken word. The formerly mundane and routine practice of journalistic review to edit inadvertent factual mistakes has metamorphically evolved, thanks to Trump and his MAGA populists, to a shameful, but mandatory, necessity. The trusted written or spoken word has, atavistically descended to its questionable veracity. It is this disastrous development to which we alarmingly refer in the first sentence of this writing. What can be the utilitarian value of any media made, or personal communication, lacking the essential assumption of truth and accuracy?

Its chronic toxicity is observable by a shameless dearth of knowledge based upon eschewing the human capacity to learn, and consequently acquiring useful, and salubrious rationality. Recent developments have exhibited the deleterious impact of this toxic malady on a catastrophic national level, We specifically refer to the re-election of the empirically proven disastrous and ill-fated Presidency of Donald Trump, accompanied by his announced menagerie of morally flawed and incompetent choices for his impactful Presidential Cabinet.

It would seem relevantly appropriate to once more, refer to the admonition of “Founder” (and later President), Thomas Jefferson, to the effect that a democracy can survive only if it has an educated and informed population. The latter declaration has proven to be prescient and disturbingly relevant to our described contemporaneous human pandemic

It is disappointing, but existentially necessary to accept the sad fact that our National population is inclusive of a large, often determinative, population of such populist citizens. To ensure the traditional values and historical record of our American Nation, while simultaneously, manifesting the constitutional standard of equity, a cure needs to be devised, which, like a relevantly effective vaccine against the pandemic outbreak of a virus, will be an effective deterrent to disaster.

In earlier writings, we have suggested a pragmatic cure; one that would permanently prevent populist demagogues and other species of inappropriate miscreants from attaining America’s highest office. We have been mystified by its absence throughout our Nation’s history. The method would make impossible the ultimate election of highly undesirable candidates for Presidential office. Simply expressed, our proposed solution would be to officially, and fairly, vet all proposed candidates for the American Presidency, thus filtering out the empirical possibility of a malefactor, or otherwise, categorically objectionable aspirant for the “finger on the nuclear trigger” position. The approved and presented choices for election, despite diverse political beliefs, would not fail to represent, at the least, the universally acceptable societal and professional standards, appropriate to the high office.

This basic conception would ethically require the creative selection of an examining committee of diverse-minded people, perhaps, academics, political bi-partisan members, and other capable people; but such a task is far less troublesome than suffering a President who is an existential menace to democracy and to the Nation. The pragmatic elimination of patently objectionable aspirants for the Oval Office is identifiable as a responsible and fiduciary obligation.

We have long been puzzled why an applicant for mundane employment, such as a department store salesman or a bank clerk is required to undergo a prior employment interview, but not the august and historically impactful job of American President.

It is notably in the mind,, that we live and perceive the World. The contemplative individual has the aptitude for internal resolve and optimistic patience.

The choice exists regarding the contrary options of, sitting in our easy chair accompanied by the uncomfortable emotional sense of anxiety and impending doom or, by emotional contrast, internally voyaging to the salubrious and pleasant conception of deferral of the concern to our developed interest in books, the arts, science, and personally developed crafts, as a limited sample of a temporal oasis engendered by pleasant distraction. Such universally available techniques of temporal deferment of concern are more salubrious and useful than uncomfortable, entirely useless rumination and self-pity.

With the assistance of such temporally needed, pleasant diversions from the disappointing political scene, coupled with persistent maintenance of optimism and support of the fundamental undertakings of our Democratic Republic and sincere optimism for the not-too-distant future, the traditional American citizen can internally travel to his temporally needed oasis, viz., his elected voyage to his inner space, whenever personally required,.

Trump’s degenerating egoistic ignorance has been irrefutably exhibited in his bold and irrational public statements of his grandiose intentions, reflective of his psychotic, delusional self-intoxication, as the sitting President, to direct the seizure of certain, specified independent nations, deprive them of their independent sovereignty and (by force, if necessary,) render them territories owned by or, incorporated into the United States. Apart from the absurdity of such delusional hype, such untenable aspirations would, inarguably, be unsuitably illegal, immoral, and historically inappropriate; most especially, for a Nation that historically and courageously exalted its sovereignty over domination from England. The empirically discernable fingerprints of toxic insanity are, inarguably, identifiable.

The American Nation (including MAGA citizens) is at present candidly and protectively, obliged to recognize as its leader one suffering from such a notable degree of delusional ideation as to have declared to our Nation of liberty-loving, democratic, and peaceful citizens, his ardent intention to effect the following distorted, illegal and hopelessly Quixotic goals:

(1) To revoke the Panama Canal Treaty and seize the internationally vital canal for the United States, by military force if necessary,

(2) To force Denmark to sell Greenland to the U.S.,

(3) To change the name of the “””Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America,”

(3) To arbitrarily annex portions of Canada.

One wonders why this prime candidate for the cuckoo nest, has not, to date, demanded the change of the name of the Eifel Tower to “TrumpTower,” or the designation of the United States Capitol from Washington D, C, to Mar El Largo on the Potomac.
