This morning’s warm, bare-chested embrace
Of our amorous and purring “Gelato.”
Was an apt celebration of,
Our happiness at feeling better
After an evening of digestive distress.
Yet, the overriding contemplative recognition that,
Despite the temporal discomfort of geriatric status
Our “bad guys” are merely joint pain and a walker
And the “good guys,” the experiential acquisition
Of sage perception and empirical understanding
A bumper harvest from lifelong contemplation.
Yeilding mature perception and ultimate ken
Inarguably, far more metaphysically celebratory
